Welcome to the Persian Studies Program! Since 2006, Georgetown University has been one of the only universities in the nation to offer 3 levels of Persian language courses, consistently, year in and year out. This makes us an attractive choice for undergraduates and graduate students seeking a full spectrum of language classes without interruption. Our program not only offers three levels of language study, but also three content courses each academic year. At the Beginners and Intermediate levels, Persian is taught through intensive study (12 credits in one academic year and during the summer). A Persian language minor is also offered for undergraduate students. These strong language offerings of the Persian Studies Program are complemented by relevant regional courses across the university, making for a robust interdisciplinary education on the Persian-speaking world.

Support for the Persian Studies Program is provided, in part, by the Shahrzad and Farhad Jalinous Endowed Fund for Persian Culture and Language Studies. The Jalinous Fund supports lectures, programming, faculty and student research, and teaching of and related to Persian language and culture at Georgetown University.
Georgetown is grateful for the support.
